Words of Praise
Today I want to give praise. Thank your god(s)/goddess(es)
for Amy Goodman & Democracy
Now! the show today was particularly vital, and I am so looking
forward to her coverage of the convention in Boston. The description
of the free
speech zone made me shiver almost too Orwellian to be believed.
And thank them for the brilliant words of
Gloria Steinem (her outline of how Bush has been bad for the
health of the nation brought tears of rage to my eyes, and strengthened
my resolve to do some voter registration canvassing next month)
and Jim Hightower (who
always makes me laugh and makes me mad at the same time).
And thank them for local public radio stations.
For instance, KUSP here in my hometown will have Jim Hightower on
supporting his book tour, tomorrow on Talk of the Bay (you can
listen at www.kusp.org).
And thank them for the T-Shirt, button and bumper-sticker
slogan/memes (my favorite thing about cars
one of the only good
things about them) that make you smile, wince, laugh and howl.
Some of my favorites:
Reasonable Women Rarely Make History
I Thought the Whole Country was a Free Speech Zone
Where Are We Going, and Why am I in this Handbasket?
Enron/Halliburton 04
Less Stuff, More Fun
Re-Defeat Bush
Friends Dont Let Friends Vote Republican
Copulate Dont Populate
To Save a Tree, Remove a Bush
And finally (for now), thank them for people with
enough chutzpah to really make a stand (and really make you laugh)
like Fuck the Vote.
God(s)/Goddess(es) Bless!
